Offshore fishing runs deep into the Ruster family roots. Mention the name Ruster to any Redand Bay stalwart and the response is usually the same — “Oh, you mean those mad fishermen?”.
The Ruster brothers of the 1930’s/1940’s were men of the sea and well known for their deep (and crazy) passion for fishing. A big part of the community, the boys constructed a local swimming enclosure and planted a Fig tree back in the day, of which, a plaque in memory can now be found at Ruster’s Reserve, in Orchard Beach.
Wind forward 50? years and that passion for fishing is still strong in the Ruster family tree.
Clint started working on boats in the mid 1990’s as a deckhand. Then in 1999, at just 21 years old, he became a skipper coxswain when his family started the “Trekka” fleet. Here’s a little story about the Trekka fleet – originally called “Star Trek”, but after receiving a phone call from a Hollywood producer saying It was too close to the movie name “star trek”, and therefore later renamed Trekka and moored @noosamarina previously known as Harbour town Tewantin.
Clint skippered the Trekka boats for 20 years where he gained invaluable knowledge and experience of area. Noosa is home to some of the best deep sea fishing reefs in Queensland. Clints uncompromising thirst to providing his punters with quality experience helped grow this family business to a 3 boat charter fleet. (Trekka fleet sold in 2014).
Over the past 6 years, Clint and his family took a break from the fishing industry while they focused on raising their three beautiful children. The time has come to return to their roots and the Rusters are excited to be back in the water with their latest charter fishing venture – Deep Sea Fishing Co. Noosa, aboard CATCH 22.
Noosa reefs are home to a wide variety of colourful and delicious eating local fish. Deep Sea Fishing Co. Noosa have something for everyone, from beginners to the very experienced. Onboard coaching is on offer by Clint and his crew during your trip if required.
